Here’s a shout out to the amazing people behind the tools I use everyday!

Please be aware that some of these are affiliate links which helps offset the cost of learning new skills! Your support is greatly appreciated.

This is not an affiliate link, just an opportunity to give props where due. Using WordPress as a content management system makes it possible for me to help individuals and small businesses tell their story online in a way that’s affordable, scaleable, and easily managed. And to me that’s pretty awesome.

Genesis Framework for WordPress

Genesis Framework by StudioPress

Nearly every WordPress website I have built is based off of the rock-solid Genesis framework by StudioPress. I was fortunate to find Genesis early on in my WordPress development career and I’m so thankful that I did! I’ve used other frameworks and themes but I always come back to Genesis as the backbone of a well programmed WordPress website.

Genesis Extender Plugin & Dynamik Website Builder by Cobalt Apps

Genesis Extender and Dynamik both make it easy to manipulate the Genesis framework. Extender works with existing Genesis themes and Dynamik helps you build your own. These tools are helpful for someone new to Genesis who isn’t interested in getting too deep into custom coding.

envira-galleryEnvira Gallery for WordPress by Griffin Media, LLC

Envira is my go-to plugin for creating beautiful, responsive and SEO friendly galleries for my WordPress clients. It is a lightweight plugin that doesn’t weigh down my sites like some plugins (I’m looking at you NextGen Gallery) and it’s intuitive interface makes it extremely easy for my clients to maintain their own galleries. Definitely worth the small price for a truly premium plugin.

And the all important answer to the “Who Do You Host With” question….

I’ve explored and worked with several different hosts through the years and currently I’m really appreciating Site5 as my hosting company. There are companies offering amazing managed hosting solutions (which I will probably consider if I ever get my personal food blog going!) but for my development needs, Site5 definitely fits the bill on pricing and their support is awesome.

I highly recommend Site5 to anyone looking for affordable and reliable WordPress support!
